I have 2 laptops, one Win 10, the other Win 11. The Win 10 machine is good to go for Win 11. Past experience tells me that a simple upgrade doesn’t end up being simple and I ought to do a clean install, But generally speaking does an upgrade work okay?

I’ll do a full backup of course, but are there pitfalls to watch to be aware of?

I’ve upgraded probably 20 machines from 10 to 11 and really didn’t note any issues or have any reported to me. I do a very thorough cleanup, removing any unused programs. Get a good clean system with good sfc, dism and chkdsk.

No need to do a clean install unless you just really want to. Take the opportunity to clean up the system and do an image backup. Then just upgrade.
