I have Realtek onboard audio on my Intel chipset motherboard desktop.  The Realtek software allows me to use the volume keys on my keyboard, which makes the addition of any other volume control moot, in my experience.

There are also multiple additional sound customizations available via the Realtek software as well.

Create a fresh drive image before making system changes/Windows updates, in case you need to start over!

Been using volume2 since forever and its great except that hotkeys stopped working in some fullscreen apps when migrating to win10, but maybe the new version fixes it.

Alt-mwheel easier for me than the fnkey on kb which still works in those apps.

Nice addition to my Windows 11 system.  BTW, I used ExplorerPatcher (https://github.com/valinet/ExplorerPatcher) to hide the old, now redundant, volume icon.

I’ve been using EarTrumpet for several years as my volume control program- It’s not a full-featured as Volume2, but it does volume control and output device routing very well. It’s also open source, for people that care about that.
