What are these?
The UFO question is one that I think will never die.
It started back in the Fifty’s, it had a spike of reports and of media commentary on these reports of huge proportions in the mid-Sixties, and then it subsided to a murmur for several decades, with the faithful year after year still making their way to the sanctum sanctorum of lookouts on Area 51, in the Nevada desert. And contributing considerably to the local economy:
“The CIA also encouraged the myth that UFOs were flying around Area 51 because it helped obfuscate what was really going on: the testing of odd-looking, high-flying, lightning-fast, never-before-seen aircraft.”
Now, once again, it has come to the attention, for better or worse, of some in government and the media, at least in the USA, after someone dusting off old reports from witnesses to things that have remained unexplained until now, and maybe shall never get explained to everyone’s satisfaction:

” Worried about national security threats from adversaries, lawmakers ordered an investigation and public accounting of phenomena that the government has been loath to talk about for generations.
“There is stuff flying in our airspace,” Republican Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, one of the senators who pressed for the probe, recently told Fox News. “We don’t know what it is. We need to find out.”
Congress late last year instructed the director of national intelligence to provide “a detailed analysis of unidentified aerial phenomena data” from multiple agencies and report in 180 days. That time is about up. The intelligence office wouldn’t say this past week when the full document will be out.” ”
So what do you think?
Is this more wishful thinking, although of a much older vintage than the one commonly spread around today through “social media”, a medium that did not exist back then?
An updated version of an old urban legend that was also a countryside one?
I have met and spoken with people who swear they saw UFO’s performing their unearthly aerobatics in the air, high above them.
This is a “Fun Stuff” thread, so I hope for a light-handed and good-humored discussion. Fanatics not welcome.
