My latest build after yesterday’s optional update on Windows 10 Home 21H2 is now 19044.2075. What is the difference between 21H2 and 22H2 as far as the build number goes? Does the 19044 just change to 19045 and the xxxxx.2075 remains the same? I’m guessing that the upgrade to 22H2 is merely “flipping some switches” in the bits that are already there in the existing installation; and then the 21H2 becomes 22H2 and 19044.2075 becomes 19045.2075?

Yes, Win10 22H2 will be build 19045.####

As for whether it’ll simply switch on already existing bits of 21H2, the “preliminary” info circulating on various blogs is that’s true but… until Microsoft issues its “official” release info about 22H2 (which should be next month) it’s not verified as being true.
