windows 10 pro shows wrong system time

Sir,

I am using windows 10 pro version 1909,OS Build 18363.535.

I recently booted my PC using linux mint iso ,then I rebooted to windows.

But windows showed wrong system time.  I have to sync the time server to get the correct time for my time zone(Asia/kolkata).

Kindly let me know how to correct this problem.,ie when ever I boot the linux iso and then reboot back to windows.

Well. This is typically caused by Linux and Windows using different time bases.

By default, Windows has the system hardware clock in local time; Linux has it in UTC reference time. These days, either can be configured to go the other way instead.

I set my multiboot systems to use UTC, as local time is ambiguous during DST shifts. See https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/System_time#UTC_in_Windows

Yes, I’d recommend that even for a dual boot between Windows and Windows… and if you’re running Linux from read-only media, you’d have a hard time changing that setting on the media anyway.

Um. What are you trying to do?

The “tzdata” is just a data set. It’s platform-agnostic and can be used on anything… well, anything that can handle UTF-8 plaintext files, but that’s at most “just a SMOP”.

But, that doesn’t usually help people directly much… most normal users just rely on packaged updates from their distributor of choice.
