Having read the recent Issue 16.1 – 2019-01-14, it mentioned Windows Secrets users complaining about charges still occuring on their credit card for the defunct Windows Secrets.   I checked my Windows Secrets account, and to my horror I found that mine was set to renew soon.   I canceled the auto renewal for Windows Secrets.   Would it not be a good idea for Woody to advise users to check their Windows Secrets accounts for this?

It’s in the lead article in this month’s newsletter.

I don’t know how prevalent this is, but it really toasts my goat.

To be clear…. you cancelled the auto-renewal with your credit card company, right? I don’t know of any way to cancel auto-renewal using the Windows Secrets site (which is basically shut down).

The windows secrets site was still active and showed that my windows secrets sub was set to auto renew. I cancelled the auto renew on the windows secrets site.

        YIKES!

I didn’t realize you could go in and change it.

I’m set up with an admin account, so I don’t see it. I’m guessing the sequence goes like this:

        1. Log on with your Windows Secrets Newsletter email address

        2. At the top, after Signed in, click your email address

        3. At the top (?) under Subscription preferences, uncheck (?) Automatically renew

THANK YOU! If this works, it’ll save a lot of hassle for a lot of people!

Interesting message I just got on CustomerSupport@AskWoody.com:

I found the e-mail confirming my last renewal and at the bottom there is a link to change auto renewal setting. I clicked on the link it brought up my auto new information with a button to cancel the auto renewal. I clicked cancel and it gave me a message auto renewal has been canceled. If it doesn’t work it was worth a try.

That email confirmation would’ve been from Windows Secrets — not AskWoody…..
