After a reboot, clicked Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update. The pane is blank. Started Task manager. After 20 minutes of 0% disk usage, Zero WiFi activity sent or received and 1% CPU it’s still blank. Yes, I verified the internet connection works. What should I do next?

AskWoody PlusThat happened to me on one of my computers after updating to 1903. I ran cmd as Administrator and then ran chkdsk /f and after rebooting, I went back to cmd and as Administrator, ran DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and then ran sfc /scannow which found and fixed some problems. That seemed to fix the update window.
Hope this helps.

AskWoody PlusTry running these commands in command prompt as administrator
https://pastebin.com/Ec5SxTMgThe commands ran without error except for the last one. Error message was “The system cannot find the file C:\Windows\system32\UsoClient.exe”. That’s weird because I found it on the path using both Windows Explorer and my file search tool (Everything by voidtools.com).
My understanding is Windows path is case insensitive. So it shouldn’t matter that my PATH statement uses system32, while Windows Explorer and Dir both display System32.
BTW the pastebin code stops two services, then starts one of them twice. I changed the code to start the two services. Got the same error.

AskWoody LoungerI had the same thing a while back, and it turned out to be because the Update Orchestrator Service was not running. In my case it was disabled and greyed out, so was unable to start it. Here’s how I fixed the problem (may not be relevant to you).

I ran services.msc to see if it was still greyed out. It wasn’t. Set it to Automatic (Delayed Start), rebooted. The Windows Update pane is functioning. THANKS!
