Wireless mouse wakes computer

I had to replace my no-longer-working wireless mouse.
After installling the new mouse, I went into Device Manager/Mice and disabled “Allow this device to wake Computer”
But movement of the mouse still wakes the computer.

The old mouse (both are Kensington) did not do this when this setting was disabled.

I’ve uninstalled the device, rebooted and re installed. No help

I’ve also uninstalled and tried it in another USB port, same outcome.

Any ideas?

I’ve got this:

C:\WINDOWS\system32>powercfg /waketimers
Timer set by [SERVICE] \Device\HarddiskVolume3\Windows\System32\svchost.exe (SystemEventsBroker) expires at 7:59:29 AM on 7/4/2023.
Reason: Windows will execute ‘NT TASK\Hewlett-Packard\HP Diagnostics\BatteryStatusTest’ scheduled task that requested waking the computer.

As that timer expires this morning I would run the command again to see if it has been set again. If so, disabling the task in Task Manager may help.

It’s a mouse/keyboard issue under device manager, hardware mixup so to speak. He fixed the mouse wake-up problem through the keyboard connection, but the keyboard reacts to the wake-up call still.

I disabled the Keyboard “allow device to wake computer” setting and that fixed the problem!

Interestingly, the keyboard will still wake the computer. Odd.

Thought that might be the issue based on the comments in the link I gave you. Also saw comments concerning the keyboard waking the computer even after disabling the mouse/keyboard in device manager. Like you said, they successfully disabled the one function but the actual keyboard didn’t react the same. Glad you at least got the mouse disabled. If I find more concerning the keyboard I’ll post it here.
