GuestWhy so shocked? Unlike land lines, in most US locales, wireless communications are not subject to strict enforcement of our wiretap laws. This also applies to cordless phones and baby monitors. It’s really caveat emptor with wireless.
True, civilians are not allowed to reprogram scanners to intercept the main cell phone frequencies. But judges do not seem to apply anywhere near the strictness to wireless interception by law enforcement which they have applied to tapping land line phones. And Homeland Security (NSA) seems to be able to do whatever it pleases anyway.
Maybe it’s time for the law and the judges to catch up with the technology, eh?
