Thanks b, method 2 I had already tried without success. But method 3 did, running chkdsk. It just deleted the errant folders so I was able to restore from OneDrive (from the recycle bin). I had two other sources I could have restored from as well – well backed up.

I will not do this again!

I would have thought that the biggest problem with going back in time was communication. Even 200 years ago, English would be quite different, and you would sound weird to them. Just think if you referred to computers or printers or whatever. 500 years ago all bets would be off. And that’s just English.

Have you tried right clicking on the taskbar and see if it has an item ‘undo side by side (or similar)?

All a bit modern for me this post 1969 stuff. Though I do like a bit of Blue Man Group!

On my Top apps it shows those apps I use the most. The list is what I use most. I can’t see any way of changing this so I don’t know why you’re not seeing your most used apps.

On the start page (I have full screen set), do you have ‘Most used’ set so when you click on all apps, you can see the list? Mine is the same as top apps in search. Not sure if this helps though!

I hope it’s easy to get in and out of – and comfortable.

A probably apocryphal story. Mike Hawthorn (a world champion motorbike rider) was in his sports car (Lambo, Ferrari, Mustang perhaps) with a friend. They pick up two young ladies and they sit in the back. After a while he asks them what they think of his motor. ‘A bit cramped innit’ comes the reply. Says it all really.

Go to settings\personalisation\start and ensure that ‘show recently opened items in jumplists’ is set to yes. Might not be your problem but it’s simple to check.

When I looked at this a while ago, I discovered that LO didn’t have a relational database. Its Base was just a front end to Calc. This was a showstopper for me and I’m happy playing O365. I’ve not checked since so it may have changed.

Well that was intuitive, not! Thanks satrow, that did the trick. Not sure about the password utilities being needed – not by me anyway.

It’s free for personal use. I’ve just updated mine but it’s empty! I need to find how I populate it.

Hi Balazs, the link to that thread was an old Windows Secrets Lounge one and that forum no longer exists. The posts were all copied to AskWoody, but most links weren’t changed (a rather long and tedious exercise). However, we think we’ve found the thread in question and it’s here. Which particular post in the thread is something you’ll have to determine I’m afraid.
