Toshiba was rebranded as Dynabook and they don’t even have my computer listed on their support at this point. I sent them an email but my confidence is low that they will know what they are doing.

Sounds like I should try door #2 – Intel.

I will need to find some videos on how to install a new driver and how to back up the old driver and how to revert back.  ==> Please let me know if you have a resource for learning this.

Ok I will check out Toshiba’s site. thanks

    • I (very sadly) upgraded to Win10 last night and it worked a-ok. I’m so happy to have this computer keep on keepin’ on. There are a couple of quirks I might need help with but I’ll start a new thread if I can’t figure it out.

So grateful for what I learn here – I did it!

    • I went ahead with the Windows Updates and nothing broke so far.

I will save your advice for a future adventure.

      Thanks

    • Thanks. I’m looked for the driver but it sure is confusing. ==> Is anything obvious as to which one I should download?

but it’s probably best to visit Toshiba’s support page for your model and find the latest wireless driver to download there.

Device manager > Update driver > Search Automatically > comes up “the best driver software for your device is already installed. Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date

My Toshiba “Service Station” utility doesn’t list a wireless driver to update.

Toshiba’s website provides the list below but the name is not an exact match to “Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230” ?

The website drivers all have the same date (my driver date is 2/25/2014)
Some of the version numbers are actually before mine 15.12.0.6 which is not listed.

Third time’s a charm I guess… my question finally posted.

fyi – I posted a question yesterday and it never appeared.

    • in reply to: Windows 7 “not dead yet” #2326489

I hate Windows 10, love Win 8.1 and that is my work horse.

I still use Win 7 machine for misc browsing but avoid anything that requires a password. I still have not moved everything to the Win10 so use it for pictures and such. Whenever I jump back onto 7 or 8.1 after using Win10 I say “ahhhh“.

I inherited a dog of a Mac that is paired with my iPhone – probably will switch over to Apple somewhere down the line after retirement.

Besides backing up, does anyone have advice for the best way to upgrade to avoid the lost folder situation?

Thank you for this discussion – I had no idea updating from 68+ to 78+ was fraught with danger.
