MS is the driver of this (windows) vehicle. I would be reticent to use somebody else’s version. Seems a bit like grabbing a license enabled torrent and using that – you have no idea what else has been added/modified/changed. Yes, It would be nice if MS would add the option to not have SXS, but it would go against their belief system that updates are supposedly removable if they are bad. A short-term SXS would be nice but they will never do it – deciding when to throw away the info to back out an update is very difficult. jenga

Thanks. Yes, I need the “Premium” version since the lower ones won’t handle a 1099 from Schwab. Also the new free one, as far as I can see, won’t either. You made a comment somewhere if I recall correctly asking why IRS doesn’t just bill us as in many/most cases, that would do it. it’s just the folks who are trying to use their dead grandmother as an exception that causes trouble. Maybe at some point they will just bill us and save us the trouble. If I were going to get a huge refund I might be a bit more interested in it, but for me it is just a $50-100 time waster purely to keep the IRS off my back. And, yes, turbotax premium includes state filing, but NOT state e-file – that is $20-30 extra that you don’t find out about until at the end. Same with Block.

I did left click on start and search for dev and there it is.

Should I uninstall it?

Thanks! I reset by left clicking the start icon, right clicking the notepad icon and choosing App settings, and going down to Reset and clicking on both of them. Next time I started Notepad I get this!

So! It is quite intentional!
Then I found that clicking File and Close Tab gives the choice I was looking for: “save or don’t save”, which is the solution! Thanks for the prod!

Imaged, and then, Opened the floodgates and took 5032007 and 5032190 and a few little ones.
No apparent problems. Took about 10 minutes. Using WU.
