AskWoody LoungerJuly 18, 2020 at 8:28 am in reply to: Outlook went down for four hours yesterday. What happened? How did Microsoft fix it? #2281495As I mentioned before, on July 16, I did a clean install of Win 10 1909, reinstalled Office 365, and noticed Outlook works again the next day.
Anyway, wanted to post an update and I will also stick with Win 1909.

AskWoody LoungerJuly 16, 2020 at 10:21 am in reply to: Outlook went down for four hours yesterday. What happened? How did Microsoft fix it? #2281062I thought its because of the new update I installed for an app or a Win 10 2004 issue, I got mad and decided to do a clean install of 1909, I had a bootable USB of 1909 on my desk and had enough motivation to do a clean install because my friend also told me he didn’t updated to 2004 yet.
Is the Outlook problem solved now?
Thank you.

AskWoody LoungerJune 23, 2020 at 6:27 am in reply to: Debilitating “Outlook needs to close” bug linked to a likely bad Windows cumulative update #2274570Thankfully not seeing this bug on Windows 10 Pro 1909 (18363.900) and using Office Pro Plus 2016 with Outlook Version 2005 (Build 12827.20336 Click-To-Run).
Me too turned on my PC after a day, and my Office says its:
Version 2005 (Build 12827.20336 Click-to-Run) Current Channel
So hopefully somehow I am lucky that did not the get the latest update for Office which is:
version 2005 Build 12827.20268

AskWoody LoungerMarch 8, 2020 at 7:04 pm in reply to: No, Microsoft hasn’t issued a “Windows 10 update warning” #2178429Thanks Woody, as Mayank Parmar mentioned, there is “File Explorer or the desktop and taskbar crashes without warning.” I do have it since I moved to 1909.

AskWoody LoungerFebruary 28, 2020 at 1:29 am in reply to: Late February optional update, KB 4535996, released for Windows 10 1903 and 1909 #2172410It says on https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4535996/windows-10-update-kb4535996:
“Updates an issue that prevents the Windows Search box from rendering properly.”
So does this fix File Explorer crashes?

AskWoody LoungerYesterday, I resumed the updates. And installed the kb4532693 with no issues.
I also talked with a geek friend of mine and he said:
Actually, I did install both this update and the other problematic one (that you mentioned in your earlier email), but didn’t have any issues on any of my machines. I guess this must depend on hardware or some other factor? Anyway, another good reason to have backups.

AskWoody LoungerFebruary 17, 2020 at 12:13 pm in reply to: Microsoft pulls KB 4524244, the infamous UEFI patch, from the Catalog #2142036We are still on DEFCON-2, which means WAIT until the DEFCON number is 3 or greater. At that time Woody will publish instructions for safe patching in an article in ComputerWorld.
This is new post:
“Whatever the case may be, if you’re one of the users who didn’t install the latest cumulative update and now thinking of installing it on your PC, you should wait until Microsoft finds a solution to fix these bugs.”
