I blame (Sir) Clive Sinclair. I successfully assembled his first DIY digital watch in 1975. My parents said 'That's amazing, what is it... and why is it showing the wrong time?" Then, even more strangely, in 1977 I successfully put together his first Sinclair ZX80.. and the darned thing worked - thus introducing me to the 'joys' of cassette tape drives. Unfortunately my parents fell asleep whilst I loaded from cassette tape the simple program it had taken me days to type in. Sir Clive has a lot to answer for... :)
