AskWoody LoungerAugust 29, 2020 at 1:13 pm in reply to: Microsoft re-re-re…releases KB 4023057, the “blast a way to the next version” patch #2292376Can someone enlighten me re “security intelligence update for microsoft security essentials” (Windows 7)
I can SEARCH for updates and almost always another one of these will pop up – usually saying they were created TODAY. I got 1 yesterday of 20mb then several more showed up later. I install all of them and don’t have a problem. I think most use recycled KB #s.
But do they really constantly add to these updates…like hourly? -

AskWoody LoungerSpeaking of Turbotax, is this anything to worry about?
” In addition, during the installation process TurboTax for Windows will check your computer to determine if you have Microsoft.net framework (version 4.0 or greater) and install these
program updates if they are not already present on your computer. Installation of these
programs is necessary for the installation and operation of TurboTax for Windows. If you
subsequently delete TurboTax or choose to not continue with the installation process,
these Microsoft programs will remain on your system.”If they confine updates to .Net stuff, that’s not really an issue – right?

AskWoody LoungerI’ve never seen the name of this update before:
Security Intelligence Update KB2310138 (Def 1.299.867.0)
sounds a tad ominous
I couldn’t find that Definition by searching this site so could someone chime in about it?
Off Topic: I tried donating to get the Plus membership through Paypal but it wouldn’t just take my Paypal money, it wants to take from my bank directly. I’d rather be in control from year to year.

I’m tempted to join the Me-Telemetry’d Too movement

AskWoody LoungerJanuary 25, 2019 at 12:31 pm in reply to: Keizer: Win10 version 1809 rollout fiasco may hinder Enterprise migrations from Win7 #316567Out of box mind tripping here but…Could a 3rd party keep Windows 7 alive with their own security updates? Seems like there’d be a huge market if it could be pulled off. I guess it’d depend on the source code being available – doubt it.
I installed all the recent W7 updates and am having a problem since involving something with my gpu. It won’t turn the monitors back on after sleep mode. Not sure if related. I only got a message saying the Display Port had an issue. So i’m having to reboot every morning.

I haven’t found much mention of those… -
