MS-DEFCON 2:
Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it.

Da BossTechnically, there is a difference in terms of comments (which we no longer use on AskWoody), replies and topics.
My point was that a deleted reply does not delete any reply to the deleted reply, as you had stated – it just messes up the thread, but those replies to the deleted reply remain on the topic page.
Only when a topic is trashed will replies to that topic also be trashed in the process.
Your initial choice of the term “comment”, while not correct in terms of the platform we use, confused a discussion further but I was trying to distinguish the behavior between trashed replies and trashed topics 🙂

Da BossIf we had control over that wording, it would include wording like “personal attacks” instead of fighting 😉
I understand your reticence to use the Report button “just” for trashing. However, with so many already doing it, we certainly don’t mind. The problem with a DM is that it only goes to one person, who may not be online for quite a while.
Sounds like that technique saves someone else from responding to a post that will eventually be deleted, which would be a waste of their time.
Very much so – and that saves us work (much appreciated!).

Da BossOne problem with deleting a comment one has made and then changed ones’ mind about, is that, by then, people may have replied already to it with their own opinions. If the initial posting that caused those replies is deleted, so are all the replies.
Only if that “comment one has made” is a new topic will it delete the replies. In the case of a reply, the deleted reply causes all the subsequent replies to be unthreaded, making a total mess of the topic, when it happen in large topics.
Hence, I said:
while it was in action, it was being abused by Loungers, which caused a moderating nightmare on occasions.
🙂
Kirsty
Da Bosswe used to be able to delete a post within a certain amount of time after posting it…
Is there a way to bring back the limited time frame to delete a post so we can do so without bothering the admins? No, that can’t be brought back. It only disappeared as an option when it stopped being a provided option in the platform we use.
However, while it was in action, it was being abused by Loungers, which caused a moderating nightmare on occasions. If you do need a post trashed, reporting it is the easiest way (some Loungers choose to delete the contents while the editing timeframe is still open, then report to request the trashing).

Da BossWhy is this app recommended above other RSS apps?

Da BossThe color of the Extend Subscription button (same as for Donate and Join Now) issue has already been raised, and is on the list of things that needs fixing…

Da BossUnfortunately, many VPNs are used by those trying to evade security for criminal purposes, and this creates major issues for many innocent customers trying just to be safe.
Free VPN suffer most from this problem, but it is also a major problem in paid services as well.In the meantime, this thread is entirely off-topic!

Da BossThis particular IP issue appears to be a very current blacklist, not historic…

Da BossYou are also able to block a recent caller, from your Recent Calls list.

Da BossThere’s no obvious sign of it being down today. The last report of problems they are showing was last month.

Da BossAccording to Susan’s ComputerWorld article back in October:
Set its value to the desired target version for example, you’ll want to enter 1909 for Windows 10 version 1909, 2004 for Windows 10 version 2004, 20H2 for the latest release and so on.
Kirsty
Da BossGreat suggestion for Windows 10.
Now, does anyone have a suggestion for those using Android & iOS mobile devices?
Kirsty
Da BossWhile those are easily doable on a keyboard, do you have a tip for touchscreens?
Kirsty
Da BossWishlist items… 😉
