Sometimes this happens because the connection with your smtp server is slow, and it times out. the whole thing gets confused, because the mail is half sent, so cannot be re-sent again, nor has it been completed. What I do is disconnect from the network (internet or LAN), Cancel Send and Receive, move the message to Drafts folder and then re-send when connected again. Normally that solves the problem, and it just flies out.

You can have multiple calendars visible at the same time in Outlook – if you then synch them with your BB, you will need to select which ones you want to synch with through the BB Desktop software (look for Advanced button on the BB Desktop software under calendar).

I just found this out myself – and it’s pretty handy. I keep personal and business appointments separate on the Outlook calendars (so I can synchronise the personal calendar with my wife’s Outlook!) and they both synch to my BB.

    • in reply to: Word 2010 and watermarks…. what gives? #1278349

      Hi Gary

The water mark is to go into section 8 of 14 sections in the document. I have done the unlink header from previous for section 8 and for section 9 (leaving the watermark insertion only for Section 8). If I insert one of the standard watermarks from the menu (Draft, etc) then it is inserted only in section 8. If I insert a custom watermark (where you type in your own text – ALTERNATIVE), then I get the watermark throughout the document! I have no idea why!!!

I admit – I have not tried going into each of the other sections – 1-7 and 9-14 to delete the watermark to see if it does the trick – I will give it a try, and let you know.

Thanks for taking the time – and if you find out why I lose 50% of the letters I would really appreciate that as well!

    • in reply to: PDF to Word – any reliable products? #1278316

      Hi Robplum…..

Perhaps it is something to do with the version of NitroPDF that you are using….? I am using version 6.

If you would like me to try converting with my setup, I would be happy to do so. We can then determine if it is Office 2000 or NitroPDF.

    • in reply to: PDF to Word – any reliable products? #1278313

      Hi Rob
I also use Nitro PDF PRo….. its way cheaper than Acrobat X!

There is a setting in the conversion from Word that will do the bookmarks for you – (I assume table of contents type links in Word).

      http://www.nitropdf.com/kb/article.aspx?id=10191&query=word+bookmarks

Have a look for the settings under Preferences/Create PDF From / From Word…… and select the Convert Links……
That should help you out! Let me know how it goes.

The bookmarks might also be there, but hidden….. have a way of controlling how the PDF is viewed when opened, to show the bookmarks pane.

Saw this thread yesterday, and surprise, surprise an e-mail arrived today from Adobe, with a service specifically to do this for you. Here is the text:
Introducing Adobeยฎ ExportPDF,* the simple way to turn PDF files into Word docs โ€” and keep the formatting. Sign up now.

Select your PDF file through your web browser. You can even choose a PDF file with scanned text inside.

Click Export. We’ll take care of the rest โ€” and turn your PDF file into an editable Word doc.

Start editing in Word. Simply download your new Word file with the same fonts, paragraph breaks, tables, images, pagination โ€” even multi-column text.

Full year cost for the service: $19.99

    • in reply to: Totals in footer / header #1276404

Here is a sample file – you will see that the amounts are calculated from the quantity multiplied by the rate for each specific item. At the bottom of the page, there is a Carried Forward item, where the page totals are added up, and then on the next page a Brought Forward item which will take to total through to the next Carried Forward item at the bottom of the page.

This is a very common scenario, and as you can see, if you set it up to fill a page, with the Carried Forward items at the bottom, then inserting any new items will result in the pagination going for a loop.

What I would like to do is insert the formula for the page totals into a footer, and the brought forward totals into the header….. Is that possible?

    • in reply to: Where do I go to remove Access 32bit drivers? #1272885

Thanks – any idea where the driver files would be? Perhaps you could uninstall /rename / delete them to stop them from working or being recognised?

    • in reply to: Where do I go to remove Access 32bit drivers? #1272870

      Hi Wendell

Thanks – the guys at AllyCad have not come across this before, and are telling us we need to reinstall the OS….! A little bit drastic, I would think. We also tried installing the new Allycad before re-installing Project 2007, so it must be something left behind from 32 bit installations. I just don’t know where to go to in order to remove those 32bit drivers.

It’s great to have all those views nicely sorted and organised for you but how do you back them up? They are scattered all over the place, and as far as I know there is no way that you can do a backup of those scattered files…. I know that the libraries function can bring things together nicely for you – if you could use that to make a backup to some other location, that would be great – anyone know how?

    • in reply to: MS Access 2007 – updating data by HTML E-mail #1268612

      Hi John

Thanks for that – it’s a real pity…. it would make life much easier!
It looks like I won’t really be using Access after all any more. I will just have to stick to the Excel spreadsheets!
      Thanks for the info……

    • in reply to: MS Access 2007 – updating data by HTML E-mail #1268600

One more question……. If the Access tables are linked to an Excel spreadsheet, will the incoming data be pasted to the excel spreadsheet? The reporting requirements are such that you can’t get them out of Access – there are just too many calculations to do! So I want to be able to do them from Excel, based on Access tables, or on the excel sheets that I can link from Access.

      The options available are:
      – have an Access database with native Access tables. You then need to export these tables to Excel, and run analysis on them for reports.
      – have an Access database with linked Excel tables. Does the e-mailed data get added to the Excel Spreadsheet? Then the reports can simply be printed.

Does anyone have experience with this? Thanks

    • in reply to: MS Access 2007 – updating data by HTML E-mail #1268532

      Oh – yes…. another question….

If you were to copy the code of the e-mail form and paste it on a website which will send a mail back to you, would that work?

    • in reply to: Remote updating of database using web interface #1268531

I have the same kind of problem, except that I capture my data in Excel at the moment. I just found a nice feature in Access 2007 that allows you to gather remote data using e-mail forms. The limitation is that the sender can update only one record at a time per e-mail (or maybe not??) the data is imported into the Access database table automatically when you receive your e-mails – pretty nifty.

      Consider that if you like?

    • in reply to: Palladium – it’s not a security suite! #1266910

That’s pretty much the repair solution suggested by most sites that I looked at. The problem is that somehow Palladium managed to remove explorer.exe…. I used an Ubuntu Live CD to view the files on the drive, and explorer.exe was gone…..

No alternative but to re-install…. so a day or so later, the machine was back up and running, with all the data intact! (I scanned all the data first with Sophos before putting it back!) It’s all back to normal again!

      Thanks for the support!
