Patch Tuesday’s tomorrow — time to defer Windows updates
By Woody Leonhard Even in the best of times, it’s a good idea to put off the latest round of Windows patches. We know there’ll be bugs. Let Microsoft’s unpaid beta testers discover just how severe they are. This month brings two additional reasons to delay installing updates. First, the March “preview patches” had an unusually high number of flaws. Under normal circumstances, Microsoft is slow to respond to bugs. But with essentially all of Microsoft working from home due to COVID-19 concerns, these are far from normal times. Chances are high that March updates will cause problems. Now’s the time to open Windows Update and hit the Pause button. Do it today — it’s easy! Pulling the irons from the fire now will potentially save you lots of future work.
