    I just purchased (from NewEgg) and installed Office Home and Business 2024.

    Prior to installing the software I used Revo Uninstaller Pro to remove Office Home and Business 2021 from the system.

    I then installed 2024.

    But:
    • When I go to Apps > Installed apps – I see Microsoft Office Home and Business 2024;
    • When I go to Excel Account it shows Microsoft Microsoft Office Home and Business 2021;
    • When I check the Excel Data tab and go to the Data Types section it does not show Stocks, Currencies etc. as it should in Excel 2024;
    • When I opened Outlook “2024″ for the first time it was already set up with Account Settings as they were in the Outlook 2021 that I had uninstalled earlier.

    The whole reason for moving to Office 2024 were problems I was having with my Outlook 2021 calendars. Now the problems have migrated to Outlook 2024.

    Is there any way to get a CLEAN installation of Office 2024?

      When you installed Office 2021, didn’t you have to activate it with a Microsoft account even though it was perpetual. If you did, it’s probably finding that Microsoft account setup.  You might need to rectify it on MS?

      I seem to remember finding a procedure on MS for the removal of everything including the account info/license when I removed Office some years ago. Don’t know if that changed, as I haven’t had Office for a long time (Office 2010 for Win and 2011 for Mac).

      My Search for ’21 to ’24 Home-Business produced this verbiage, particularly the Last Directive that states: Once installed, open any Office application (like Word or Excel) and activate it using your product key. Hopefully you or PKC will understand the mechanics of that To-Do AND (ie) does the ’21 Version you still See BECOME 2024 AFTER This Step. Is something like this in Excel File Tab \Account section at the bottom (ie) my Excel Has a SWITCH LICENSE Block?)

      To be safe, the entire How-To was: Download the Office 2024 installer:
      Go to [ office.com/setup ] and sign in with your Microsoft account or create a new one.
      You’ll need the product key that came with your purchase of Office Home & Business 2024.
      Follow the remaining prompts to complete the installation.
      Once installed, open any Office application (like Word or Excel) and activate it using your product key.

      Hi Kathy Stevens:

      A few years ago I used the Easy Fix tool (SetupProd_OffScrub.exe) shown in the Microsoft video Uninstall Office to wipe a trial version of Microsoft 365 off my Win 10 computer before installing MS Office 2019 C2R, and if I recall correctly this tool did a decent job of scrubbing Office off my system.

      Also see the instructions on how to use the Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant (SaRA) described in the section titled “Uninstall Microsoft 365 or Office with the uninstall troubleshooter” of the MS support article Uninstall Office from a PC. Unfortunately there is a note in that support article stating this uninstall troubleshooter “currently can’t uninstall Office 2024” but it might be able to find and remove remnants of your MS Office 2021 installation.

      @PKCano
      – If you don’t mind sharing, what are you using instead of MS Office?

        Libre Office for Word processor, Spreadsheets and Presentations. I no longer need Access.
        You can open/save .doc, .docx, .xls, xlsx, .ppt, .pptx, .pdf, .txt, .xml, .html, as wrll as the open document .odf format.

        Installable versions for Windows, Mac, Linux. I use interchangeably between my Windows and Macs. Currently using v. 24.8.5

          Thanks for responding PKCano. I also have Libre Office that I hardly use on a laptop. I’m retiring home PCs that have MS Office 2010 that I bought through the employee purchase program MS used to have. I’m debating whether to get Office 2024 Home and Student that Newegg periodically sells for $90 instead of $150 or to go with Libre Office. I’ve used Libre Office enough to know that it’s not nearly as refined as MS Office and I have lots of mental and muscle memory for MS Office but I’m not thrilled with having to create MS accounts to activate Office 2024 . . .

      We have completed a clean installation of Office Home and Business 2024 after fully removing fully removing Office 2021.

      It was no easy.

      More when I get a few minuets.

      After much effort, we have managed to install a clean copy of Microsoft Office Home and Business 2024 on a Windows 11, Pro Version 24H2 workstation.

      To accomplish the clean Office 2024 install we had to remove all traces of former Office installations including residual files and registry entries.

      Fortunately, after much searching, we found a web posting by MS.CODE that showed us a way to fully remove former Office installations.

      https://ms.codes/blogs/microsoft-office/how-to-clean-uninstall-microsoft-office?srsltid=AfmBOoq3Q7Kzqby0z0QbidSbB6_0julcPRGFSv2lCABabok1fPiPUjA0

      The approach that was successful for us is as follows:

      1. Saved, to an external drive, all existing Outlook calendars and contacts using Outlook’s Open & Export utility;
      2. Backed up the computer to an external drive;
      3. Opened Revo Uninstaller Pro and uninstall Microsoft Office;
      4. Restarted the computer;
      5. Recognized that Revo does not completely remove Office components from Windows 10 or 11;
      6. Then we:
        1. Deleted Office files and folders by opening File Explorer, finding the Microsoft Office installation directory in either C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86) and removing the entire Microsoft Office folder, and then emptying the Recycle Bin to permanently remove the deleted files;
        2. Removed Office Registry Entries by pressing the Windows key + R opening the Run dialog box, typing “regedit” and hitting Enter to open the Registry Editor, then navigating to the following registry keys and deleting any entries related to Microsoft Office (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office), then restart the computer;
      7. Removing any Office remnants using Disk Cleanup by:
        1. Opening File Explorer,
        2. Right-clicked on the drive where Microsoft Office was installed (usually the C: drive),
        3. Selected “Properties” from the context menu,
        4. Clicked on the “Disk Cleanup”,
        5. Selected the checkbox next to “Temporary files” and any other relevant options, and
        6. Clicked “OK”,
        7. Then clicked “Delete Files” to start the cleanup process, and restarting the computer.

      Our reason for reinstalling and upgrading to Office 2024 was I had transferred Office 2021 from a Windows 10 Pro computer to a Windows 11 Pro workstation using Laplink’s PCmover. The transfer did not go as planned and we ended up with multiple Contact lists and Calendars that did not play well together.

      We were unsuccessful in removing the unwanted Outlook 2021 contacts and calendars from within Outlook so we tried to:

      • Unsuccessfully to reinstall Office 2021 (it did not solve the calendar contacts problem),
      • Install a new copy of Office 2024 after using Revo Uninstaller Pro to remove Office 2021 (it did not solve the calendar contacts problem), and then
      • Used the method outlined above and now all is well.

        The approach that was successful for us is as follows:

        Hi Kathy Stevens:

        Glad to hear you found a solution.

        For future reference, the Microsoft support article Manually Uninstall Office also has a list of folders, registry subkeys, scheduled tasks, etc. that can be manually deleted if the Microsoft uninstall support tool in Option # 2 of Uninstall Office from a PC that was mentioned in post # 2755826 leaves behind any orphaned remnants.
