Thanks for the heads up on this – I was looking for a partitioning software.

The web-site certainly looks professional. Hopefully, will download and try it out.

When I need to partition stuff (not very often, thank goodness) I use my bootable GParted CD. It’s always worked and it’s Available at http://gparted.sourceforge.net/download.php

The first thing I do when I encounter an unfamiliar web link, especially for downloads and including ME, is to check the Whois record to see if anything “bothers me” about that. This one (the URL) seems to be in Provo, Utah and the domain was just registered a month ago and expires next year. Whatever that tells you…

It may be a hosting company in Provo (lot of tech companies there are remnants of Novell, and SCO is based in the Provo area). The company itself is Canadian: http://www.mt-solution.ca/about.htm. But there’s always reasons to be wary of something based in Utah: according to a recent Forbes article, within the US Utah is second only to Spokane, Washington, in investment scams, and “multilevel marketing” programs (pyramid schemes) are rampant in Utah.

While I can’t vouch for the company or where it is located, I have just downloaded Partition Wizard and successfully partitioned my new laptop, without having to reinstall anything. I like that! I like that it is free too

I used the Bootable CD option, and was able to shrink the single partition with the OS (as shipped) as well as add a couple of extra partitions to meet my needs.

About 17 hours left, this site is giving away a free Paragon partition manager today:

There are quite a few versions of disk utilities on offer now from well established companies.

Paragon offers quite a selection of Free license software – free backup, partition freeware & data recovery, including Partition Manager Free Edition.

EASEUS Disk Copy: Free Disk Copy, Disk Clone, Partition Copy Software. Sector by Sector for hard drive backup freeware. is also worth a look.

I think there may be one or two others in the mix too.

Partition Wizard even helped me to recover the now useless Vista 10 GB recovery partitions Sony put at the begining of our Laptops when we upgraded to Win 7. I have been very impressed with this app.
