That is an incredible price! In compaing the Newegg site to the Acronis site this appears to be the original Acronis True Image Home 2010, although I have no idea what the ” Amaray Case” means in the Newegg description.

Apparently that’s a brand name for the typical plastic DVD case: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keep_case. The rebate form doesn’t seem to exclude the boxed versions, but there’s really no reason to buy it in a box…

AskWoody PlusMay 9, 2010 at 6:34 pm #1222897Note that one thing that has changed with Acronis recently (this year?) is that you can only get free technical support for 30 days after purchase. After that you have to use their forums, buy a support plan or pay per incident.
I don’t see this as too much of a loss as Acronis tech support was mostly lame in general anyway. And the forums are pretty robust the couple of times I have used them with quick replies from others.

AskWoody LoungerMay 13, 2010 at 9:45 pm #1223707Buyer beware. I have been on the Acronis forum checking this out and there are many people experiencing problems with the NonStop Backup feature of this software and they have been complaining since Home 2010 came out. Acronis states the problem is more complicated that they originally thought but keep promising there will be a fix available sometime but will not commit to a time-frame.
When NonStop Backup does work there are open issues with it eating up massive amounts of CPU cycles that has not yet been resolved.
NonStop Backup Constant High CPU Load
In spite of these problems I think I am going to purchase the software. The basic backup and restore for catastrophic disk failures seems to work and this is my main concern.
