I’ve been playing with an Acer One 10 for a week, trying to decide whether it will function as a portable writing PC. It came with Win 10 installed and has connected flawlessly to my home wi-fi as well as Xfinity hot spots around the city. Tonight, I opened it up and noticed the message “Updates were installed.” After that, I could no longer connect to anything.
The networking icon has a red “X” and if I pop up the Network and Sharing Center, no networks are shown. Running the troubleshooter to detect problems with the network adapter yields the message “Windows did not detect a properly installed network adapter. If you have a network adapter, you will need to re-install the driver.”
When I tried to go any further, it returned “Windows could not find a driver for your network adapter.”
This smells like some poop may about to hit a big fan at Microsoft. Any suggestions? I’ve saved what little I created on it and will probably just do a reset.
