I have run out of space on my C: drive and have been struggling to find out what is eating up the space. It is around 40GB in size. I looked at the Searches folder and found two other folders: Everywhere and Indexed Locations. When I opened the Everywhere folder, it showed over 184,000 files. I think I found a smoking gun. I was wondering if I can delete these saved searches without causing any problems? I have a feeling it will be similar in the Indexed locations folder as well. Thoughts?

Where did you get the 40Gb of size.
My folder has 300K items but Get folder size reports 0 MB in size. The properties dialog for the folder shows 20Kb in size.
Here’s a composite picture of the items overlayed.
45362-SearchesFileDon’t think I’ll get too much space savings by deleting anything there!
Here’s a useful Windows Club article on the topic.

AskWoody PlusAugust 18, 2016 at 4:39 pm #1575402Thanks HTH,
the 40Gb is the size of the C: drive. I guess I misread the contents of the items in the saved search folder. As I mentioned, I am struggling with trying to find what is using all of this space. I have gone through everything I can think of to gain space back. What about deleting old Win Update files? Any other thoughts around finding large files?

You can try using the free WinDirStat to find out what’s using your space. There is also TreeSize free. Either or both should help you get a hold on things.
BTW: HTH = “Hope this helps” 😆
