AKB1000004: HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus (not Premium or Pro) cannot connect to a WPA2 access point

Problem:
HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus can see a WPA2 access point, but cannot connect to it. The printer will always ask for a WPA key. Specs say that this printer should be able to connect to WPA2. This occurs even on the latest firmware update for the printer as of 5/26/15.
This appears to be specific to the 8600 Plus, not Premium.
Solution:
Connect the printer to the wired network with ethernet, go into the web interface and change the following setting:
1. Network -> Wireless -> Advanced
2. Turn on Wireless if it isn’t already turned on
3. Check the box at the bottom for “In an infrastructure network use 802.11 b/g behavior” and save the settings.
4. Disconnect the ethernet cable and try connecting to the wireless from the front screen of the printer, following the wireless wizard.
5. It should connect now with no issues.
