    According to following articles
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2920716

    https://msrc.microsoft.com/update-guide/en-US/vulnerability/CVE-2024-43600

Security update KB2920716 released on December 10 2024 is only applicable to 64-bit versions of MS Office 2016,

it isn’t pushed automatically via Windows Update for 32-bit versions.

although both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of KB2920716 are available in Microsoft Update Catalog

Can someone explain why 32-bit version of KB2920716 is available for download in Microsoft Update Catalog?

Can someone explain why 32-bit version of KB2920716 is available for download in Microsoft Update Catalog?

Perhaps because someone realized that the particular vulnerability patched by the 64 bit patch also applied to the 32 bit version at the last minute immediately prior to the formal release on Dec. 10th and only did a half-baked job of getting it out the door?

You’re right, though…in the MSRC bulletin for CVE-2024-43600, 2902716 is only listed for the 64 bit version, not for the 32 bit version.

BUT, the KB article for 2902716 mentions the same CVE number and also mentions that the download is available from the update catalog as one of the three sources you can get it from. In that KB article, though, the 64 bit warning only appears below the listing for the Download Center as a source for the update:Download-Center
And, sure enough, the Download center page for the update only says 64 bit for the fix in the title at the top of the download area.
