    Hello,
I have a client with 3 Win ME machines. All P3’s and running fine. I ran windows update to bring the workstations up to date so I could image the drives.

After the update I now get this exact error message “3Com EuSynth: ADI/ICH Hardware not present. 3Com EuSynth will be unavailable.”
This has not caused any problems but you do get an error message when the computer is turned on or rebooted and you MUST click OK to get rid of it.
I searched everywhere on the internet. It seems that it is recognized as a problem. A certain update sees a 3Com device that was never there to begin with. Does anyone know how I can get rid of this, resolve this or uninstall the update?? Total restoration is not an option.

A Google search shows a discussion of this error message as it relates to Windows ME at http://www.jerrypournelle.com/archives2/ar…ew/view124.html%5B/url%5D . Otherwise, as you indicate, nothing much else seems to be addressing the problem.

Yes, I cannot find anything else. I read this very same article. I will keep my fingers crossed and see if someone offers up an idea or solution.

I resolved this problem. Thank you all for your comments and help.
I did not find the solution on the web but I did resolve it myself.
For what ever reason, when you update Win ME the 3Com EuSYnth device that was working just fine before decides to get screwy. I went into MSCONFIG and checked the STARTUP tab options. I found a file “EUSY.exe” or something like that. I removed the check from the box, rebooted and everything has been just peachy ever since. Everything works fine…I checked all the devices to make sure.
