I am using Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. So far I have bought and returned two external memory card readers which do not support 64-bit, and which do not say this in technical details. Is anyone currently using one that works with 64-bit, or knows of one that does work? Both my Canon cameras have sudden stopped working using the appropriate “Solution Disks” and applying new upgrades to them, so a card reader seems to by my last resort. All help will be appreciated.

  I have Win7 Pro 64 bit and use the same Card reader as I did with WinXP Pro 32 bit.
  It is a SanDisc ImageMate 12 in 1 Model # SDDR-89 V4 Part number 20-90-03066 it is about 2 years old.

  The problem appears to be software/driver related, not hardware. Possibly a corruption of something that previously worked fine.

  What is a solutions disk?
  
  Check your autoplay functions in Windows 7; control panel.
  Completely uninstall/remove device and cold boot computer.
  I too have a camara (Olympus) that shows up when connected to usb. The device has to be powered on
  in order for os to recognize it.

  I use the same Secure Digital and Memory Stick cards on my various 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 7 systems, as well as 32-bit XP and 32- and 64-bit Linux. There is no “bitness” associated with memory cards, or their readers. By the way, card readers are built into both of my laptops, my wife’s HP machine came with a multi-card reader, all of our printers have card readers, and several of my monitors have card readers. Those various readers are working on various combinations of 32-bit and 64-bit OSes.
  
  Just for grins, I pulled out my really old, non-name brand 9-in-one USB card reader that I bought 4 or 5 years ago (was was it even before then, can’t remember) and it reads my Secure Digital card just fine. I’m using Win 7 64-bit.

  Thanks to all who have answered! With others having no problems using “old” card readers with 64-bit, I must assume the “solution disks” are the problems. They are the Canon CD-Roms to be installed when you purchase a new camera. They set up how to use their ZoomBrowser” for moving photos from the camera to the computer, with ability to download only newly added photos. I re-install the particular disc when working with each camera: Ver 28.2 for ZoomBrowser EX 5.6 for my PowerShot S3 IS, and Ver 33.0,EX 6.1 for my PowerShot SD890 IS. I have been doing this since last autumn after installing Windows and have had no trouble until a few weeks ago. Perhaps some one else uses the ZoomBrowsers and can see what I may be doing wrong all of a sudden.
