How to use Skype after May? I have no need for all the AI stuff in MS Teams. I need a simple program that works. Skype has worked well. I want to use it after MS ends it. Please let me know if someone knows how that can be done.

AskWoody MVPApril 24, 2025 at 5:20 pm #2766787There are other platforms that can be used for video chats and even conferences aside from MS’ Teams. I’ve frequently used Zoom and have only once used Teams. Because of that, I’ve never had to import contacts nor chats from one into the other.
When Microsoft ends Skype’s existence, they’ll be taking the Skype servers down completely or they’ll have the servers that were used for Skype used for Teams instead.
If you read Will Fastie’s post here, he mentions that by going from Skype to Teams, all of one’s contacts and chats will be preserved, and that one’s current login credentials for Skype will work for Teams. There might be a setting or two within Teams to disable the AI functionality that it has, since you say that you have no need for it.
