    Running 23H2 Win 11 Home.
I have a shortcut icon for Google Chrome on my desktop.  Under properties, I added a keyboard shortcut “Shift + Alt + G” (using the appropriate key combination).
It works fine…until I reboot the laptop.  Then, not always, but often, the key combo is missing and the box is blank.  I can easily recreate it, but I shouldn’t have to!

Just to be clear, the desktop shortcut icon never disappears; just the “Shift + Alt + G” key combination!

Any thoughts on why this random deletion happens?
(I have several other shortcuts on the desktop with keystroke combos, and they haven’t disappeared!)  Thanks!!

This typical happens after google chrome update. Check if that is the case. After next update, see if the shortcut is gone. The chrome update replace the link on desktop. This is why it never disappears. It creates a new link on the desktop without the shortcut keys. This is why I do not like auto updates. They cause more issues than solve.

I think that makes perfect sense (as in, that’s why it happens, as opposed to that’s how it’s designed – which makes less sense to the user).

THANK YOU for the info…the randomness of it has been frustrating!  — Ron
