Is there a limit to the number of styles that can be defined in a word document?

When we attempt to create new styles (in a document that already has >>100 styles) they don’t seem to appear as options ???

According to Operating parameter limitations and specifications in Word, the maximum number of styles in a Word document or template is 10,000, so it seems unlikely that you’re even near the limit.

Try holding down Shift while clicking the Styles dropdown on the Formatting toolbar.

Or, in the Styles and Formatting task pane, click the dropdown at the bottom, select Custom… and make sure that the styles you need are ticked.

        Hans,

        Once again your advice worked!

Any idea why they make it like that?

        Thanks,

        Tom

          Which one worked?

The first option worked (shift plus pull-down)

The second option only worked if I pull down to “show all styles”

            Which one worked?

I’ve never understood the exact “rules” that Word uses to determine which styles to list…
