Access and Apache (Access 2003/SP3)

This post back in 2002, is the last reference I can find regarding using an Access DB back-end on an Apache webserver.
I was wondering if anyone had any more experience or comments to contribute.

For what it is worth, my webmaster is suggesting that Apache can not handle data held in MS Access.
I suspect hooey – but I want to have some useful references to take forward.

this is not my cup of tea at all, but without any answer… this may be better than nothing.
At first sight, ODBC (and/or eventually ASP?) may help to connect the dots.
A thorough google/… search might reveal some interesting articles and references.
