Access being removed from Office package?

I am running Access 2016 as part of an Office 365 subscription package. I received an email saying that my Office subscription is due for a renewal and that the renewal options are changing. When I went to the renewal website for information, I saw that none of the packages available includes Access. In fact, the site says specifically that Access is being removed, even from the premium package. I haven’t heard this news anywhere else. Does anyone else know what is going on? Does this mean that Access will be uninstalled from my computer after I renew? What are my options? And why hasn’t this news appeared anywhere else?

To which plan do you subscribe? Both Office 365 Home and Office 365 Personal include Access. All of the Office 365 Enterprise plans that have desktop apps include Access. Office 365 Business and Business Premium do NOT include Access. Office Home & Student 2016 does NOT include Access.

I have Business Premium. It has always included Access, but the announcement says that Access is being REMOVED. None of the three options available to me will include Access. It seems odd that Personal would include Access but Business Premium would not. Doesn’t make sense.

So the question is, will Access be uninstalled from my computer, or will I be able to keep it as a sort of legacy program?

See this thread – MS Access. From this it appears that you will lose Access when you renew.

You may purchase Access as a separate application or change to an enterprise subscription plan (E3) which has Access included.

If you look at all the Business options, Office 365 Pro Plus looks like the option you want – and it is $0.50 cheaper than the Business Premium. Go Figure! The marketing of Access has been a mystery for two decades or more.

Unless he is using other parts of the Office 365 plan not available with Pro Plus such as Email, online meetings, or Yammer.

Thanks for the replies. So it looks like we’re getting the shaft by Microsoft. My office subscription comes with a sharepoint site with email address and web site, and the Home and Office subscriptions that include Access are not offered to me, and it appears that if I were to opt for one of the packages that includes Access, I’d lose the email address and web site. It looks like I’ll have to get creative with my options.

Check out the Enterprise (E3) subscription. It is $20 USD per user per month. That is a lot more expensive but has what you currently have plus more. See Enterprise Office 365 plans for a list of plans, costs, and features. You should be able to upgrade from your current plan to E3 and keep everything. NOTE: If you take that path be sure to talk to someone at Microsoft or a partner before starting the upgrade.
