I want to create a report that posts table row elements horizontally on the page (five columns) up to a sub-total column, then print vertically the next row elements that DO NOT match the 5 previous columns until the group variable changes. In plain words; print a group header of 5 columns, print down the successive group rows, then start over on the break variable with a new header. Thanks

I don’t think I understand what you’re looking for. I assume that by “table row elements”, you mean fields, correct? So what do you mean by this?
then print vertically the next row elements that DO NOT match the 5 previous columns until the group variable changes
I would guess that by “print vertically”, you mean print rows down the page, and the group variable you mention is probably a header grouping, right? Are you using sorting and grouping in the report or have you grouped the data in an underlying query?

I’ve attached a rough example…

Table Column Type Amount CustNo (not shown)
wav 25
wav 10
der 20
deg 21
xyz 345
aaa 106

now make report
wav der deg Sub-total Other Amount
35 20 21 76 xzy 345
aaa 106
break variable grouping on CustNo

This type of report is very alien to Access. Offhand, I can’t think of an easy or elegant way to produce it. You will probably have to do much of the formatting of the report in code. Are you really sure you need this?

Yeah, that’s what I figured. I told the client it would take at least two tables (to split off the horizontal members) and lots of code. But I had to confirm, since I can’t know everthing that Access will do… thanks folks
