I have used add-in manager succesfully in the past to link tables. Today when I tried to use it the option has been “greyed out”. Can anybody offer an explanation as why this may have happened and how to get it back.

    Thanks,

    Simon

Which version of Access are you using? In 2000, table linking is under the Database Utilities menu item instead of Add-Ins, so it helps if you specify the version.

As to being grayed out, tell us more about the database (mdb, mde, adp, ade?). My initial suspicion is that you need to reinstall, although if you’re running 2000, a detect and repair might fix it.

        Hi Charlotte, Access 97

It seems when I was away a proprietry database was loaded onto my machine. It also installed a runtime version of Access. I found this by opening a database by double clicking the mdb file and found the access startup screen was registered to a different person. I found who installed it and explained the problem. It seems I needed to run the /regserver after the access.exe from the run box. This reestablished all the access files to run with the office version of access and not the runtime version. It is now working OK.

Needless to say the person that installed this was chastised caselessly for causing my time to be wasted.
