Years ago I used a classic Firefox extension called UAcontrol . It allowed me to set specific user agent strings for specific URls. I’m looking for something similar that will work with modern FF.

So basically, I want the browser normal UA reported for most sites, but want different specific UA strings for several sites. The closest I could find was  User-Agent Switcher and Manager, but it isn’t even close to what I want.

    Any other suggestions?

You could conceivably create these yourself and then add them to a browser called Floorp which I use. Here’s a pix to illustrate what I mean: https://i.postimg.cc/bJq9BBBx/custom-user-agent.png

As can be seen in the image, there’s a custom user agent in the field by the same name in the prefs configuration menu in Floorp. Consequently, all you need do is to create a number of new profiles via the link to that option (not shown in the pix, but on the same page) and then switch to them as and when you want.

As regards your search for an app you’re not finding any because steps have been taken by Google, Microsoft and others to deter use of fake user agents.

As regards Floorp, it’s an open source browser, doesn’t track users or collect telemetry and is easily configuarable to your own needs much is the same way Firefox was prior to the appearance of WebEx. More on the subject at https://floorp.app/en/
