Fellow Linux users- anyone know how to add emojis? Nothing has turned up in a search here and nothing that actually works from an online search.

For a smiley face?
colon,dash,rightparenthesis
🙂For a sad face?
colon,dash,leftparenthesis
🙁For a wink?
semicolon,dash,rightparenthesis
😉For a big grin?
colon,dash,capitalD
😀You get the idea. Hope this helps.

colon, dash, capitalDAlso, as I was reminded recently that not everything that seems obvious to me is necessarily obvious to everyone else, please note:
when I wrote “colon, dash, capitalD” that means to type just three characters…
first a colon ( : ) followed immediately by a dash ( – ) and then a capital D ( D )Assume you already understood my meaning, but perhaps better to be more explicit. Hope this helps.

are you on Linux?Yes – my above posts were made on LMDE box, using Firefox browser.
Prior to reading about your difficulties, though, I’d always just figured that the emoji icon generation (i.e., emoji text replacement) wasn’t tied to the box or OS I was using, but was the result of server processing (in other words, how the site itself handles certain common text strings; another example would be replacing three consecutive periods with an elipsis character, as was done in both of my earlier posts).
Hmmmm. The only thing that occurs to me that I didn’t specifically mention earlier is this: I always select/use the “Text” tab, located above the message input box, before/when typing and posting. Other than that, I’m stumped.

I’ll try that- the default is Visual and I’ve never selected “Text.”
