adding music via Amazon download gets duplicated in iTunes folder

First, let me say that I do NOT have iTunes for windows installed on my Windows 10 system. I USED to have it installed on my Windows 7 system before I upgraded I to Windows 10. I now only use Windows Media Player.

My problem is that when I bought some music from Amazon and downloaded it to my PC, it gets duplicarted in a folder called:
E:UsersmyUserNameMusiciTunesiTunes MusicAutomatically Add to iTunes

I don’t want this music in this folder but it automatically gets copied back into the folder after I delete it.

How do I keep this music file duplication from occurring? And, how do I delete these duplicate files so that they are not copied back in to the iTunes folder from my normal Windows Music folder?

Replies

An upgrade probably didn’t remove itunes so it’s still running. Check “Programs and Features” – right click the Windows flag.

Hi Paul,
I did a complete install of Windows 10 after an upgrade to Win 10 failed. So NO programs were carried over from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and I have never reinstalled iTunes.

You may have a ghost in your computer. (I don’t understand how iTunes came back.)
Perhaps your ‘complete reinstall’ was actually a repair install instead (which preserved your data)?

you could install the program called ‘everything’ this will find anything that has iTunes in it and allow you to uninstall it.
