Adding sound schemes

I’ve copied the 13 “sound scheme” folders from Windows 7 with the intent of adding them to my Vista sounds. I tried adding one of the folders, “Afternoon” as a test, to C:WindowsMediaSchemes, rebooted and then looked in the “Sounds” applet of the Control Panel to see if it appeared in the drop down menu…. nada. I then copied the same folder to C:WindowsMedia, rebooted, etc., but still no go.

Sooo, I’m hoping someone can tell me there is an EASY way to add these 13 sound folders in Vista without having to go through all 13 folders and each and every individual .wav file, copying it to an existing sound scheme and then saving it with another name… that’s over 250 files.

Nope….. sorry Doc, but that’s far too elemental and doesn’t address what I want to do.

Again, I have 13 FOLDERS of sound schemes, i.e., each folder has c. 20 .wav files. Each of these files are identical in name, yet they are different sounds. So, the basic method described in the article simply wouldn’t work as it requires that all the existing sound files be overwritten by the new ones… hardly practical when there are 13 different “schemes/themes” to choose from.

When I click on the drop down menu for “Sounds” I have several to choose from at the moment. I added them via their own installer: .exe file. They appear in C:WindowsMediaSchemes as folders with their respective individual .wav files in them. In fact two of them are the exact same two that the article mentions “Glass” and “Pearl” which came as part of Vista Ultimate’s “Extras”, if I remember right. So, what I want is to be able to simply click on a Scheme in the drop down menu and all of the individual .wav files in its respective folder will be enabled.
