In FrontPage 2000, you will need to manually insert the:

Alt=”tool tip text value here” attribute in the

      tag in HTML view. The

tag for each of the hot spots in HTML should look something like:

To make it available for Firefox users grin you may want to add:

      Good luck

Hmm, thanks for the reply… I must not have conveyed my intents clearly since after following your advice I was prompted to add a URL to the hotspot

What do I need to do in order to get “tool tips” to appear over different parts of a picture? Do I make the requested URL refer to the same page?

Thanks for being patient with me and, say, if you know of a site or a page that does what I’m trying to do, perhaps I could peek at the code (?)

I’ll have a look around but could you refine to:

          Here is my picture

This could trick the browser to think there is a link.

In the meantime I’ll hunt around for you.

At first I couldn’t see why I needed a URL, but now I see new possibilities!

The ‘alt’ stuff will do the trick, so thanks for hanging in there with me!

              No problems

I began to doubt myself, so ran off to check……yep this should work

Try it with the additional title=”whatever” and all us Firefoxers will be very happy so that we can see what you intend. grin

Thanks again and, yes, I’ll add the ‘title’ part.

Say, I’ve tried the “percent-zero-A” to get an empty line/line break in the tool tip, but all I see is the % 0 A all together.

              What did I miss?

hmmn I don’t think there is a way, unless you try this:

              Here is my picture:
In 2000: It was a church with no roof
In 2005: It was a church with a roof

These are hard carriage returns. I am running out of time before my New Year party but it “may” help. It will show in the alternative text if the image is shown but I am not sure if the tooltip will show it.

Have a look at this post 537,025 and associated links that I asked recently which talks about a similar problem

              Thanks!
Happy New Year from Jerusalem where it’s 730pm as I write this

              –edit–
And, oh, yes… the real carriage return actually worked :*-)

And here I was hoping for a relaxing evening … this new concept has me thinking so fast I can hardly keep up with myself :*-)

All His best for a great 2006 and beyond…
