Over the weekend I ordered my new HP Win 10 Pro laptop – thanks to the great recommendations I got here! Ahead of delivery, I have put together a veritable textbook of set-up info gathered from the many discussions and great information found here. I think I have a pretty good grasp of most of what needs to be done, but I do have a question on the recommendation to download and have on hand a copy of wushowhide.diagcab. I understand what it is, and how it works, I think – but my question is – what updates will I need to hide at my initial startup – or initial connection to the internet?
If I follow PKCano’s guidance on setting up windows 10 for the first time, and configuring updates on Win 10 pro, won’t that keep updates from downloading and defer them? I am not really clear on how wushowhide.diagcab would be used in the initial set up stages.
I appreciate any info on this step, and any other general set-up suggestions that anyone might have. I don’t know yet exactly which version of Win 10 Pro will be shipped, but finding that out is one of the first things on my list.
Thanks to all who have contributed to the many threads about how to go about getting a Win 10 computer secure and set up properly. Your advice and suggestions are a great help to those of us taking this step!
