Adobe Flash Player failure

lately the Flash Player has totally stopped working for me. I am using Firefox 35.0.1 for a browser with Windows 8.1.
I’ve tried updating FP and even uninstalling and downloading it several times. No joy. Here’s the error message I get when attempting to install FP:

I’m not super computer-literate so any ideas how to correct this situation are much appreciated!

If Flash Player works okay in IE then it will be a Firefox problem and running the Anvi Browser Repair Tool may sort it. http://www.anvisoft.com/browser-repair-tool.html

It says it goes up to Win 8 but may work for Win 8.1

Click on the FF icon in the left pane and you will see that it deals with Flash Player problems.

In the past I have had a few problems with Flash Player and it required downloading Adobe’s Flash Player uninstaller, then uninstalling FP completely, rebooting, then go back and get FP. Sorry, I don’t have a link to the uninstaller but you can look on Adobe FP help for it. I recommend ONLY using Adobe’s site to find/dwnld it because there are a lot of malware laden links out there for FP if you google it.

That’s the problem with Win 8.1 – Flash Player is embedded in IE.

Open a Command Prompt (Admin) – type sfc /scannow then press enter to see what that reports.

If you are running Nuance Dragon NaturallySpeaking 13, this is now a known “feature” of the program. If you shut down DNS13, the flash player no longer crashes. The work around is to disable the security settings in flashplayer. This involves editing the mms.cfg file to disable protected mode. You can read more on this (and the annoyance it, as well as other “nuances” with DNS13, is generating the entire user community) here: http://nuance-community.custhelp.com/posts/af11a158cf

Even if you are not running DNS13, you might want to implement the work around given here to see it it has any effect on your issue. If not, revert the setting.
