I am sorry to bother you once again :0

I decided to finally install Brave. After running Brave and closing the browser, I noticed few new processes. Those are pxgsettings, xdg, and sh. There are four xdg, named desktop-portal, desktop-portal-gtk, document-portal, and permission store.

What are those processes? Are they fine to leave be or should I stop those processes after I am done with the Brave. BTW I intend to have Brave more as secondary browser.

    Thanks

I am wondering if those are normal processes? I have tried to look these up but I got nothing so far. BTW xdg processes I am refering to are such as xdg-desktop-portal.

I am truly sorry to bother you once again.

I am not sure about pxgsettings, but the others are normal. the XDG bits are part of the system that allows applications like Brave to work and integrate with with whatever desktop environment you use. They should not use very many resources, so there is no need to close them after using Brave.

Because each desktop environment was developed independently of others, they have each had their own way of doing things. XDG (short for the X-desktop group), now renamed freedesktop.org, seeks to standardize how things are done across various desktops so that any given program will always work with all of the desktop environments as seamlessly as possible. The various XDG bits you see are the programs that make that happen.

The program ‘sh’ is one of the two common command shells for Linux and other Unix-like OSes. The other one is ‘bash’ (short for ‘Bourne again shell,’ since it is a free reimplementation of the Bourne UNIX shell).
