What happened? I was answering my active topics and I clicked a link called “Mute” to see what that was all about and ALL of my topics completely disappeared. I hope there is a “backup” to recover them!!!

Whew!! Many thanks, Alex. That was scary. Never noticed that before and will never click it again.

AskWoody PlusSeptember 9, 2024 at 8:45 am #2702480A note to anyone else confused or not aware of what this Mute is. There is a blue link to the right of Edit, Reply, Quote, Mute xxx at the bottom of every post. The Mute xxx is the user identifier of the person entering the post. In my case it was my own user identifier and with some very long mysterious char string so I did not know it was me.
Clicking that Mute link apparently blocks that user from your active topics so I blocked myself, but only from you while logged in. After I had logged out I could see the muted user but I could not reply to that user because it was muted from me when logged in.
That feature must be new or maybe I just never noticed it before.
To reverse it as Alex said go to your Profile. Where is Profile? It took me a while to find that but click the picture avatar top right of screen. Under that there is a row of blue icons. Somewhere in the middle is one that says on hovering “Muted users”. There you will find users you muted and can delete.

Sorry I missed the original advisory of the new function.
What confused me was that the mute name was my ID in an unrecognizable format (whole string of characters). I notice on all others it is the person’s login name so if mine had also been my login name I probably might have figured I was muting myself.
