I have a samsung galaxy tablet that was working fine on android 14 and ui6.1.

Now with the upgrade to android 15 and ui7 there is no ipv6 connection.  From what I have read it’s something to do with dropping off ipv6 due to battery life and timing out of RA. I am picking up ipv6 on my laptop just fine.

Any thoughts? I also have noticed network connection can drop and from what I have read this is also a known issue.

      “Potential Solutions and Workarounds

      Check Router Advertisement (RA) Lifetime:

If your router allows, increase the RA lifetime to a value that complies with Android 15’s requirements. Unfortunately, many consumer routers do not expose this setting.

      Update Router Firmware:

Check for firmware updates for your router, as manufacturers may release updates to address compatibility with Android 15’s new IPv6 requirements.

      Switch to a Compatible Router:

If your current router does not allow RA lifetime adjustments and no firmware update is available, consider using a different router that offers more advanced IPv6 configuration options.

      Contact Router Manufacturer:

Reach out to your router’s support team to request a firmware update or guidance on adjusting RA lifetimes.

      Verify SLAAC is Enabled:

Ensure your router is configured to use SLAAC for IPv6 address assignment, as Android does not support DHCPv6 for this purpose”

        Thanks Alex!

The tablet had a flawless connection and now due to Android 15 and technology it briefly interrupts or at one point lost connection and then reconnected.

Thanks for the article, it is a great summary and will keep watch for any updates.

It’s definitely the updated software in the android tablet. IPV6 is fine on my laptop, and it is what my router is delivering from the provider. It’s just unusual and suspicious that after the Android 15 upgrade and hullabaloo about how great it is all this happened. It’s ok but not the greatest if it leads to these types of issues. I was thinking the tablet network drop was due to the Android 15, not necessarily the IPV6. The tablet uses the wireless signal, and I cannot choose within either 4 or 6. In Alex’s comment above it is indeed so. Again, disappointed that a long-awaited and maybe final upgrade is not without bugs or software issues. Sigh…..

      Thanks all!!!
