      Who needs QA?

      I installed CtR version 15.0.4815.1001 for Access 2013 last week and I haven’t had any problems (yet). I don’t do anything fancy with Access, just normal adding and updating records.

      Windows 8.1 64 bit.

      As long as you aren’t using Lync (Skype for Business) or Outlook, I wouldn’t expect any problems.

      @woody

      I don’t have those applications. Access 2013 is the only MS Office application I have.

      Then you’re fine.

      This month, April 2016 looks everyday more and more like August 2014 for patching.

      Yes, Max is right. There are so many volunteering beta testers that the need for QA at Microsoft is obsolete.

      I am running Office 2013 CtR and, so far, I have allowed MS to apply updates automatically every month. So, the April patches have already been applied but I haven’t experienced an Outlook crash (I don’t use Lync). Is the general advice to run Office 2013 with Disable Options set to “Disable Updates”, and only set Disable Options to “Update Now” when you are reasonably confident that the updates will not cause any problems?

      I’m leaning in that direction. Fortunately, Office Click-to-Run has the option to turn off updating (would we were so lucky with Windows 10). What do you think about making that a recommendation? Sit back and wait – and avoid those three big problems in the past four months.
