I installed 21H2 (10.0.19044.1620) and can not access the shared printer now. When I right click the printer (Canon i-sensys LBP6000B) it prompts for login credentials. When I enter the correct credentials I get a windows error ” The credentials supplied are not sufficient to access this printer. Do you want to specify new credentials? ” but nothing works. I’m loosing the will to live !!!

Shared where, on your machine or another?
Can anyone else use the printer?
Can you remove and re-add the printer?

      cheers, Paul

      Thanks Paul

Shared where, on your machine or another? Printer is connected via USB to a W10 Pro PC.

Printer is shared to one other W10 Pro PC but this issue shows up after the windows upgrade.

Can anyone else use the printer? No ( Printer is shared to one other W10 Pro PC. )

Can you remove and re-add the printer? Tried it same issue.

      Thanks D.

Has anyone sucsessfully updated from 1903 to 21H1 or 21H2 ?

      cheers D.

Of course, why are you asking?
Do you want instructions or are you getting a particular error?

        cheers, Paul

Yes Paul thanks if you could point me to instructions.

          • #2436681

Go to Microsoft’s Download Windows 10 page and click the “Update now” button.

Save the Windows10Upgrade9252.exe file to a know location and then run it.

            Follow the on screen instructions.

Typically it takes less than 15 mins to complete the update but going from 1909 to 21H2 will take quite a bit longer as there were a lot of changes made between those version so be patient.

I think it is too big of a jump it seems that it might be better to jump to 2004 and then use that link to jump to 21H2 not sure still reading into it…Thanks..

it might be better to jump to 2004 and then use that link to jump to 21H2

      Nope, go straight to 21H2.

Make an image backup first, as always.

      cheers, Paul

So essentially install 21H2 using the “Keep personal files and apps” option?

      • #2436768

        Yep!

        2004 is EOL.
The only difference between the active versions 1904x (20H2, 21H1 and 21H2) is the turning on of Enhancement packs to match the version. The base, and updates are the same.

Ok upgraded to W10 Pro 21H2

So after the upgrade the networked printer will only work on the main PC.

It will not share with a second PC.

      Both PC’s are on W10 Pro 21H2

I have all share settings correct on both PC’s.

On the PC I want to share to I go to “Add Printer” and as it does not show up I select “ The Printer I want isn’t listed “ so I “ select shared printer by name “ and the main PC shows up.

When I select the main PC it shows the printer but when I try to connect I get the below Add Printer error,

“ Windows couldn’t connect to the printer. Check the printer name and try again. If this is a network printer, make sure that the printer is turned on and that the printer address is correct “

      Any ideas I’m all out….

      Thanks D.

Check that both PCs network is set to private.
Remove and reinstall the printer on the main PC.

      cheers, Paul

All ready tried those Paul. I think my last resort is to contact canon.

    • #2438901

It’s a Windows thing, not a printer manufacturer thing.

Put the printer on the other PC and see if you can share it from main.

      cheers, Paul

Still getting the error below when I try to access the printer from another pc.

” Windows could not connect to the printer check the printer name and try again. If this is a network printer, make sure the printer is turned on and that the printer address is correct “

Won’t work as one of the machines have a new / fresh install of 21H2

Machines were on 1909 so this issue surfaced after updating…

        • #2442760

most likely a driver problem during the update – try uninstalling and reinstalling the printer drivers on those machines

      R-Type,

May be time for a new printer as the spec sheet shows that the latest supported OSes are Windows XP and Windows Server 2008. It has no native networking capability. Frankly, I’m surprised it ever worked with W10. Printer manufactures love to stop writing drivers for older hardware for new OSes so they can sell more printers. Personally, I think this printer has earned its retirement…LOL!
