Avast enthusiastically indicates that it has earned the Windows 7 logo! And it supports 64-bit programs.

If an AV manufacturer didn’t support Windows 7, they would very soon be out of business!

[Quite puzzled that you didn’t Google for “ChosenAVSoftwareName Windows 7″?]

I came to the Lounge rather than doing a Google search because the quality of the responses from the Lounge is always HIGH and ACCURATE. Thanks for your input.

Avast is doing its usual excellent job for me AND is updating itself regularly which is more than I can say for Microsoft’s Securty Essentials. There is a registry hack floating around the internet to make MSE update its signature files more frequently but I don’t think I should have to do that with an AV program.

      I’m sticking with Avast!

We are using the F-Protect on our Windows 7 machines. They have version for BOTH 32 and 64 bit.

I am using ESET NOD32 Antivirus Version 4 on Windows 7 (64-bit) with no problems.

Panda’s free software at http://www.cloudantivirus.com/en/ is another good compatible product

Virus Bulletin has just published the results of their test of 43 antivirus products for Windows 7. Registration (free) is required to see the test results’ summary, complete information is only available to paid subscribers.

In my experience, this is one of the very few sources of reliable information on antivirus software.

Another vote for Avast! No problems with Windows 7 32 and 64-bit.

It should be noted however that – like most free anti-malware – it’s only free for home use.

For non-free BitDefender, NOD32 and Kaspersky are better choices on current tests.

      We use F-Prot from http://www.f-prot.com/
It comes in both 32 and 64 bit versions. It is $25.00 US per year for up to 5 machines.
