Read an article and it says enabling this feature (requires reboot) allows you to run Linux programs within Windows without installing a VM.  Just wondering; not sure how resource intensive this feature is and really don’t have a reason to do so but wanted to see if other’s have used it and what their thoughts are about this feature.   🙂

Are you referring to this Microsoft page here?

I can only give a screenshot since it came from a company newsletter and don’t want to reveal the company name.  If it breaks copyright, please ops delete the attached png screenshot.   🙂

And, by the way, even Win10 Home users have this feature (I checked).   🙂

I tried that feature, but it did not have added value for me. It seemed like terminal emulation in Windows. To be honest I dont uderstand what is it for. For emulating Linux apps in Windows maybe.

I find more usefull Hyper-V, you can create real virtual machines there, containing real linux distro (not only terminal). My experience with hyper-v is good, although beware how many resources Windows adjusts to your hyper-v VM. My PC was trying to create something like 1500 GB RAM, thus beating iMac PRO. I think I posted that screenshot somewhere on the forum. So after turning few knobs, it ran well. Good try, its free, but to be honest VMware is still better.
      Good start Microsoft, I say!

Yeah; got off my lazy eyes and read further and you are right, Doniel; guess I’ll be sticking with Virtualbox.   🙂
