I keep getting error messages like this when searching my C: drive:

The target of the symbolic link C:Usersd1harLocal SettingsApplication DataApplication DataApplication DataApplication DataApplication DataApplication DataApplication DataApplication DataApplication Data……does not exist

It seems like the directory is pointing to itself as a subdirectory. The folder tree gets to be quite long.
I couldn’t find anything interesting in the system environment variables, or the registry.

Any ideas about what’s going on?

Have you been messing with permissions?
Or using Robocopy without /XJ (eXclude Junctions)?

I had this happen when I first got Windows 7 in 2010, and didn’t understand what had happened to Documents and Settings…

As I recall I was using XCopy for backups. I’ve found a much better option, and haven’t had the issue since.
