AskWoody PlusApril 3, 2018 at 1:34 pm #181028Thanks for the heads up. At least, well so far, we haven’t gotten out of cycle, emergency patches. Or maybe we should, once MS figures out what’s going on. My son has threatened to go back to MS to fix up the mess. Oh, if only he could!
Cheers!!

AskWoody PlusApril 3, 2018 at 5:32 pm #181088Just a reminder, some versions of Office 2013 are Click-to-Run (mine is, & runs on Windows 8/8.1). The non-security & security bundled update (rollup?) drops on Patch Tuesday, like Windows. The change in MS-DEFCON is coming… or is it?
Bought a refurbished Windows 10 64-bit, currently updated to 22H2. Have broke the AC adapter cord going to the 8.1 machine, but before that, coaxed it into charging. Need to buy new adapter if wish to continue using it.

AskWoody_MVPApril 3, 2018 at 5:49 pm #181093– unless you want to join the unwashed masses of Beta testers.
I’ll add “Unwashed” to my “Idiot” and “Daft glutton” honorary titles.
What would you wait for if nobody installed updates?

AskWoody PlusApril 3, 2018 at 7:29 pm #181103Oh, the Beta testers won’t stop installing updates, bless them. These days, the uncontrollable desire to update may be symptomatic of a compulsive urge to self-destruct. Even when their machines repeatedly bluescreen they keep asking how they can patch them.

Sounds like some of the compliments hurled in my direction.
I got a message from a guy who told me, basically, “Woody, Microsoft has improved and moved on. Why haven’t you?”
I nearly spit out my coffee…. 🙂

AskWoody_MVPApril 3, 2018 at 9:25 pm #181110Gee guys & gals, where’s your spirit of adventure? That quest to see what’s over the next hill, etc.?
This is what Image backups, and test machines, and VMs are made for as I see it…of course YMMV. 😎

AskWoody LoungerApril 4, 2018 at 7:52 am #181203I have Office 2010 installed on my computer. This morning my WU shows that 2 of the new April 2018 Office Non-Security Updates are now available to download & install, KB 4018317 Outlook, and KB2965234 Powerpoint. They were both listed as important and were both unchecked. Because they were both unchecked, I hid both of them.
I also received another instance of KB2952664, this time listed as optional and unchecked. I hid this update as well.

GuestApril 12, 2018 at 11:11 am #184139I can also confirm that KB4018326 on Win10 1709 with Outlook 2016 and Skype for Business 2016 causes Skype for Business to crash on startup. I can get around it by either uninstalling the update or by opening Outlook 2016 and signing in to it first, then re-open Skype for Business.

GuestApril 12, 2018 at 11:39 am #184146As a follow-up to my post, it is specifically the “Windows Security Skype for Business” sign-in window that does not display. It appears as if Skype for Business crashes when trying to display that login window. However Outlook 2016 does not appear to have the issue as that same window does come up and allows me to sign-in. That is the workaround I mentioned above.
